- October
Recap, October was very busy at the winery with a lot of visitors for our
Johnny Cash Tribute & the Hershey Harrisburg Wine Country Fall Fest and a
visit from Hurricane Sandy, which we fortunately made it through with
minimal damage. Thank You to everyone who came out to visit us!
- Our 2nd Tasting Room &
Wine Store at the Newberry Commons Mall in Etters just off the Yocumtown exit
of I-83 is Now OPEN. The new store is right next to the Wine & Spirits
Shoppe (State Store), so we hope that when customers are shopping for wine,
they will stop in to the new store for Free Tastings.
The current hours are Wednesday
thru Saturday from 3pm to 8pm, but hours will likely expand during the
Holidays.
- We have just released 2
new bottlings for sale: The new vintage of our White Port, Pordeblanco, is now
available for tasting and purchase. Pordeblanco is a truly unique Taste
Experience! One of the only White Ports made on the East Coast, featuring
delicate citrus flavors of lemon, tangerine, and orange. The wine is blended
with Premium Brandy and is 17.5% alcohol.
Our other new release is a
Special seasonal Dessert wine called "Shades of Autumn". This wine
features smooth Holiday spices with aromas of pumpkin pie into delightful
palate-pleasing flavors. Perfect for Holiday parties and meals! (Very limited
supply, only available at the Winery tasting room)

Saturday, December 8th, 5pm -
8pm: Hummingbird Ridge Winery 3rd Anniversary Celebration at our new
store location in the Newberry Commons Mall, just off the Yocumtown Exit of
I-83, with a Jimmy Buffett Tribute by "Sons of a Beach". This is an
inside event, but bring your bag chairs for this Tropical Holidays event as
seating is limited in the new store. Free Admission. Free Parking. Free
Tastings.
- Recipe of the Month: This month’s recipe celebrates Autumn and is for all of
you dessert-lovers out there. This Pumpkin Bundt Cake is so moist and
delicious, you won’t be able to stop at just one piece:
Ingredients:
1 cup vegetable oil or Canola Oil, 3 eggs,
1 can (15-oz. size) pumpkin, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 cups white sugar, 2
1/2 cups all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1
teaspoon ground allspice, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground cloves,
1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 cup chopped nuts (0ptional)
Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease one 10 inch Bundt or tube pan. Cream oil, beaten eggs, pumpkin and
vanilla together.
Sift the flour, sugar, baking soda, ground
nutmeg, ground allspice, ground cinnamon, ground cloves and salt together. Add
the flour mixture to the pumpkin mixture and mix until just combined. If
desired, stir in some chopped nuts. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
Bake at 350degrees for 1 hour or until a
toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let cake cool in pan for 5
minutes then turn out onto a plate. Let cool and dust with powdered sugar. (Or,
frost with cream cheese frosting or a powdered sugar glaze). This goes great
with our new Hummingbird Ridge “Shades of Autumn” wine. ENJOY!!!
- Wine Tip of
the Month: It's often hard to pair Holiday meals such as Thanksgiving with
wine, not just because of the variety of foods presented, but also because of
the variety of people at the table. Trying to please a variety of people can be
hard, but here is a possible solution. Present several wines at the table in
different styles that guests can choose from. A nice sparkling wine is always
nice, as well as a fruit-forward dry red, and perhaps a semi-dry white and of
course, a sweet wine for those that are not big wine drinkers. Fortunately,
Hummingbird Ridge Winery is your one-stop shop for Thanksgiving wines. From our
Hummingbird Red, Sunflower & Semi-Dry Riesling on the drier side to our
Wildflower & Shimmer on the sweeter side, you can present your guests with
the perfect wine for your Thanksgiving celebration. Stop in our tasting room
for more advice on pairing wines with Thanksgiving dinner or any meal.
Our motto is “Experience The Flavor” and
our goal is for every Hummingbird Ridge wine to be balanced and flavorful. We
are open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 6pm at our Winery Store
at 735 Kise Mill Rd, York Haven and open Wed. to Sat. from 3pm to 8pm at our
new Newberry Commons Mall store, and our standard wine tastings are free of
charge at both locations.

group is looking for a unique meeting place during the week or weekend, please

- November Wine Lineup: We are a
microwinery and we make our wines in small batches so that we can focus on
every detail of the winemaking process to craft the best wines for you. So at
times we will sell out of certain wines. The following wines are currently
