We had a very fun July at
Hummingbird Ridge Winery, as the brutal heat wave gave way to perfect summer
weather in the last few weeks of the month, especially for our Beatles Tribute,
which had a record turnout. It was great to see the Beatles fans dancing to
those classic tunes. Our Springsteen Tribute is up next in August, see
below for details.
- Upcoming Events –
This coming Friday, August 2nd, 5-8pm, "First Friday Music Event" with live Acoustic
Blues & Rock by "Will Work for Wine". This event will be at
our Winery location at 735 Kise Mill Rd, Newberrytown (1/4 mile from
Susquehanna Speedway). FREE Admission for this
event. Free Parking. Free Tastings. This is an Outdoor
event, so bring your bag chairs, relax, sip wine, and listen to the tunes!

Saturday, August 10th: BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN Tribute by
“Acoustic Bruce” from 1pm to 4pm, along with our Official
Release Party for our newest wine, "Valkyrie Goldbaender",
with Free food and wine pairings.
This event will be at our Winery
location at 735 Kise Mill Rd, Newberrytown (1/4 mile from Susquehanna
Speedway). FREE Admission for this
event. Free Parking. Free Tastings. This is an Outdoor

Chardonnay- GRILLED LEMON CHICKEN.
INGREDIENTS (MAKES 4 SERVINGS):

1 TABLESPOON GRATED LEMON RIND
•
2 TABLESPOONS FRESH LEMON JUICE
•
2 TABLESPOONS HUMMINGBIRD RIDGE CHARDONNAY
•
2 TABLESPOONS EXTRA-VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
•
1 TABLESPOON FRESH OREGANO LEAVES
•
1/2 TEASPOON DRIED DILL
•
1/4 TEASPOON CRUSHED RED PEPPER
•
2 MEDIUM GARLIC CLOVES, MINCED
•
4 (6-OUNCE) SKINLESS, BONELESS CHICKEN BREAST HALVES
•
COOKING SPRAY
•
1/4 TEASPOON SALT
PREPARATION
1.POUR YOURSELF A GLASS
OF HUMMINGBIRD RIDGE CHARDONNAY & SIP WHILE PREPARING THE
RECIPE. COMBINE FIRST 8 INGREDIENTS IN A MEDIUM BOWL, STIRRING WITH A
WHISK. RESERVE 2 TABLESPOONS MARINADE. ADD CHICKEN TO REMAINING MARINADE IN
BOWL, TURNING TO COAT. COVER AND MARINATE IN REFRIGERATOR 15 MINUTES, TURNING
CHICKEN OCCASIONALLY.
2. GRILL OR HEAT A
LARGE NONSTICK GRILL PAN OVER MEDIUM-HIGH HEAT. COAT PAN WITH COOKING SPRAY.
REMOVE CHICKEN FROM BOWL, DISCARDING MARINADE. ADD CHICKEN TO PAN; COOK 6
MINUTES ON EACH SIDE OR UNTIL DONE. PLACE CHICKEN ON A SERVING PLATTER.
3. STIR SALT INTO
RESERVED MARINADE; SPOON EVENLY OVER CHICKEN. ENJOY WITH HUMMINGBIRD RIDGE
CHARDONNAY!
- Our 2nd Tasting Room & Wine Store at
the Newberry Commons Mall in Etters just off the Yocumtown exit 33 of I-83 is
OPEN. The new store is right next to the Wine & Spirits Shoppe (State
Liquor Store), and features Free Standard Tastings. Hours are Tuesday
thru Saturday from 1pm to 8pm. Stop in for Free tastings.
Also at the new Mall location, we have opened a
Wine Café, with tables where you can sit, relax, and enjoy wine by the glass,
with Wine by the Glass Specials every week. Food is also available from our
neighboring restaurants New China and USA & I. You can order takeout and
enjoy your meal with wine in our Wine Café.
- Stop in at our Newberry
Commons Mall location to see an exhibition of spectacular Photography by
Meredith Kaminek. From her studio in Central Pennsylvania to a creek in
the woods, Meredith Kaminek has cultivated her career as a professional
portrait photographer since 1992. Connecting with people to photograph more
than what they look like, but who they are, has always been the true passion
parallel to her artistic eye.
Feeling a similar connection with
nature, Meredith has branched out to share her perspective of how everyday life
and our natural surroundings are genuine gifts...
...so long as you take the time to
look at it that way.
"...as I found it" is Meredith Kaminek's recently published hard cover book,
which is a collection of her photographs of nature untouched, coupled with
simple thoughts and inspirations that she has written. It is available at
our Newberry Commons Mall Tasting Room. Stop in and
support Local Art.

Hummingbird Ridge Winery is “the
Small Winery with Big Flavor”. Owner Tom Day began his wine odyssey as a
teenager, watching his Italian grandfather make wine. When Tom started winning
amateur awards for his own wines, he decided to open his own winery. With over
20 years of experience, he opened this microwinery dedicated to making wine in
small batches, so that every aspect of the winemaking process could be meticulously
taken care of, to craft wines with superior flavor and balance. Tom named the
winery after one particular hummingbird that followed him as he first walked
the property and that hummingbird’s likeness graces every bottle of Hummingbird
