March Recap: We had a full house for the Eagles Tribute event in March and we participated in our 4th year as part of the Mason Dixon Wine Trail's "Tour de Tanks" event, with wine enthusiasts from many states stopping by to taste Hummingbird Ridge wines. Read below for upcoming events.   

  

- Our 2nd Tasting Room & Wine Store at the Newberry Commons Mall in Etters just off the Yocumtown exit 33 of I-83 is OPEN. The new store is right next to the Wine & Spirits Shoppe (State Liquor Store), and features Free Standard Tastings. Hours are Tuesday thru Saturday from 1pm to 8pm. Stop in for Free tastings.

Also at the new Mall location, we have opened a Wine Café, with tables where you can sit, relax, and enjoy wine by the glass, with Wine by the Glass Specials every week. Food is also available from our neighboring restaurants New China and USA & I. You can order takeout and enjoy your meal with wine in our Wine Café. 

-  April Events –

 

* THIS ONE's FOR THE LADIES!!!  "First Friday Ladies Night", Friday, April 5th, 5pm to 8pm, at our Newberry Commons Mall store in Etters (beside the State Liquor Store), just off Yocumtown Exit 33 of I-83.FREE Admission. Stop in and enjoy a variety of local Crafts, Food, Music (including a Harpist), Art, and much more, just for the Ladies!

 

 *CALLING ALL PARROTHEADS!!!  Saturday, April 20^th: Jimmy Buffett Tribute by “Sons of a Beach” from 1pm to 4pm. This event will be at our Winery Store at 735 Kise Mill Rd, Newberrytown (1/4 mile from Susquehanna Speedway). FREE Admission for this event. Free Parking. Free Tastings. This is an Outdoor event, so bring your bag chairs, relax, sip wine, and listen to Jimmy Buffett tunes!

COMING MAY 18th:  ROLLING STONES TRIBUTE by "Wild Horses" at our Winery location at 735 Kise Mill Rd, Newberrytown, 1-4pm. FREE Admission

-    New Wine Releases:  We have released our newest vintages of 4 of our wines. The new vintages of Semi-dry Riesling, Reserve Red, Hummingbird White, and Sweet Dreams are Now available for tasting and purchase at both of our locations. Stop in and Taste them!


- Recipe of the Month: Brenda's Chicken Salad that she made for last month's Tour de Tanks event got rave reviews, with many requests for the recipe. So here it is:

Ingredients: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and cut into small pieces; 1/4 cup each of red, yellow, and orange pepper, diced; 1/2 of a small sweet onion, diced; 1/2 of an apple, diced; 2 ribs celery, diced; 1/2 cup Cran Raisins.  Directions: Mix all of the previous ingredients together with 1 cup of mayonnaise, 1/2 cup of Miracle Whip, and 1 Tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Serve with Hummingbird White wine and Enjoy!

February Recap: The Neil Diamond Tribute at our Newberry Commons Mall store last month was a Fun Blast from the Past, with the whole crowd singing along to “Sweet Caroline”. And our New Cherry Chocolate wine made many a Valentine happy. Read below to see the new wine we have released for St. Patricks Day!

Also at the new Mall location, we have opened a Wine Café, with tables where you can sit, relax, and enjoy wine by the glass, with Wine by the Glass Specials every week. Food is also available from our neighboring restaurants New China and USA & I. You can order takeout and enjoy your meal with wine in our Wine Café. 

-   March Events –

 *Saturday, March 9^th: The Eagles Tribute by “Tequila Sunrise” from 5pm to 8pm. This event will be at our New Store at the Newberry Commons Mall. FREE Admission for this event. Free Parking. Free Tastings. This is an Indoor event and there is a lot of space in the new store, but seating is limited, so bring your bag chairs, relax, sip wine, and listen to The Eagles tunes!

* Every Saturday Sunday in March: Mason Dixon Wine Trail “Tour de Tanks” Event, with Wine Discounts, Food, Special tastings and Tours at each of the 22 wineries on the Trail, including Hummingbird Ridge Winery. For info, visit www.masondixonwinetrail.com  

-    New Wine Release:  We have released our newest wine, Irish Mint wine, to celebrate St. Patricks Day, featuring flavors of Fresh Mint with hints of Delicious Chocolate on the finish. Tastes like a Peppermint Patty. Now available for tasting and purchase at both of our locations. Stop in and Taste it!

-       January Recap: The Bob Seger Tribute at our Newberry Commons Mall store was a lot of fun last month. We had a packed house and it was a great time, with a lot of people ordering takeout from our neighboring restaurants, USA & I and new China and eating their dinner with our wine.

Free Tastings. This is an Indoor event and there is a lot of space in the new store, but seating is limited, so bring your bag chairs, relax, sip wine, and listen to Neil Diamond tunes!

 

* ValenWine’s Day Celebration Takes Place Saturday and Sunday, February 9-10, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m at our Winery location at 735 Kise Mill Rd, York Haven PA.

On Saturday and Sunday, February 9th and 10th, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., this two-day wine & chocolate experience provides guests the opportunity to explore the Hershey Harrisburg Wine Country’s 15 wineries (including Hummingbird Ridge Winery) while enjoying hand-crafted, award-winning wines paired with chocolates from around the world, along with 10% off wine purchases and a complimentary souvenir glass. All guests who visit 5 or more wineries that weekend will be entered into a drawing for a Wine Country excursion with Premiere One limousine!

- New Wine Releases:  Starting Friday, Feb. 1st, our new bottlings of Ruby Elixir, Blue Diamond and Cherry Chocolate will be available for tasting and purchase at both of our locations.

Those of you who have been waiting for our best-seller "Ruby Elixir" to be back, IT'S HERE and tasting Delicious! Also back is our Blush Port "Blue Diamond" (one of the only Blush Port wines we know of being produced). And finally, our new Dessert wine "Cherry Chocolate" just in time for Valentines Day. You will not believe the flavors in this wine!!!   So stop by and try these new bottlings!

- Happy New Year to all of You! Hummingbird Ridge Winery wishes all of you a Happy and Prosperous 2013.

-       2012 Recap: Thanks to all of you, 2012 was an excellent year for Hummingbird Ridge Winery. We met a lot of new friends and our events were very successful. You can look forward to more events in 2013, with Music Tributes of The Rolling Stones (50^th Anniversary year) and many others at our Winery location in the Spring, Summer, and Fall, as well as some brand new seasonal wines being released. Thank You to everyone who supported us in 2012 and we look forward to seeing you in 2013!  

-   Our annual Winter Winederland event will take place at our Winery location at 735 Kise Mill Rd, York Haven on January 11^th to 13th, with 10% off on our White Port wine Pordeblanco. Pordeblanco is the perfect way to warm up after coming in from the January cold. Fortified with premium Brandy, Pordeblanco will take the chill off.

-   January Events at our Mall store –

* Friday, January 4^th: “First Friday Music Event” with acoustic rock and blues music from 5pm to 8pm by “Will Work for Wine”.

 *Saturday, January 19^th: Bob Seger Tribute by “Against the Wind” from 5pm to 8pm.

Both of these events will be at our New Store at the Newberry Commons Mall. FREE Admission for both events. Free Parking. Free Tastings. This is an Indoor event and there is a lot of space in the new store, but seating is limited, so bring your bag chairs, relax, sip wine, and listen to the music!

- A lot of folks have been asking when we will have more Ruby Elixir. We will be bottling more Ruby on January 26^th, so Ruby will be available soon. We are also bottling more Blue Diamond blush port, as well as a new Cherry Chocolate dessert wine, so look for these wines coming soon. 

Wine Tip of the Month:  Here are some tips for doing a wine tasting at a winery.

1.        Do not wear a lot of perfume or cologne. Scientists say that taste is up to 80% aromatic, so go light on the perfume when wine tasting.

2.        Be careful what you eat before tasting wine. Cough drops, Minty gum, even pickles can alter your ability to taste wine accurately.

3.        Rinse your palate with water and/or unflavored crackers between wines to reset your palate for the next wine.

4.        Taste wines from dry to sweet. This is easier on your tastebuds and will give you a clearer picture of the taste profiles of the wines.

5.        Write notes about each wine. After tasting multiple wines, it can be hard to remember which wines you liked best.

- January Wine Lineup: We are a microwinery and we make our wines in small batches so that we can focus on every detail of the winemaking process to craft the best wines for you.
