THIS JUST IN! Hummingbird Ridge Winery's Apple wine, "Adams Apple", won a Bronze Medal last weekend at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in Syracuse NY, as over 3200 wines from 22 countries were judged. Adams Apple is made from locally grown York County apples, sourced from AAA Acres in Manchester PA. Many Thanks to Ed and Barb Ahrens, owners of AAA Acres for growing great apples for this wine! AAA Acres grows great fruit and produce and you can find them at The Newberrytown Peddlers market every weekend. Be sure to visit them for exceptional locally grown produce. Be sure to stop in and taste Adams Apple while it lasts.

- Wildflower White is back on the shelves at Hummingbird Ridge Winery. Stop in and try this semi-sweet top seller, with layer after layer of tropical flavors.

- The winery was very busy in March with the unusually warm weather bringing in lots of wine enthusiasts to the Hummingbird Ridge tasting room to enjoy the Mason Dixon Wine Trail "Tour de Tanks" event. Thank You to all of you who stopped in to see us last month!

- For those of you looking for even more Wine Trail fun in Central Pennsylvania, there is a big announcement coming in this Sunday's Patriot-News about the new Hershey Harrisburg Wine Country Trail, of which Hummingbird Ridge Winery will be a member. For more info:

- See our new revamped and restyled website, same web address www.hummingbirdridgewinery.com , but new graphics and easier to navigate, with video features and recipes from all past newsletters grouped together now! Many Thanks to Brother Jim for all his work on the website!!!

- For all of you who have been asking for weekday hours, we are now open on Fridays from 11am to 6pm, in addition to our weekend hours from 11am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Our motto is “Experience The Flavor” and our goal is for every
Hummingbird Ridge wine to be balanced and flavorful. We are open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 6pm and our standard wine tastings are free of charge.

If you belong to a group, club or association and you would like a Private Wine Tasting for your group or your group is looking for a unique meeting place during the week or weekend, please call us at 717-315-0209 for availability. We hope to see you soon at the winery!!!

- Our Wine Deck is now open for the Season! Stop out and sip a glass of wine or bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it on our deck. On a sunny day, a glass of "Rita on the Ridge" or "Sangria" sure tastes good while relaxing on the Deck!!!

- UPCOMING EVENTS:

Join us for an Evening of Wine and Cheese, featuring 5 Courses of Premium Cheeses and Cheese Dishes from around the World paired with 5 Delicious Wines, plus an educational seminar by Hummingbird Ridge Winery Winemaker!!! - Also, the entire weekend of April 13-15 is our Wine and Cheese Weekend. Come in and sample wine and cheese pairings. Free admission.

- April Wine Lineup: We are a microwinery and we make our wines in small batches so that we can focus on every detail of the winemaking process to craft the best wines for you. So at times we will sell out of certain wines. The following wines are currently available for tasting and purchase in our Tasting Room:

Red Reserve, Coming Soon, the new Red Reserve is Cabernet Franc and will be available at the tasting room on Lucky Friday, April 13th. And it is a Beautiful Dry Red!!! Come in and taste it starting April 13th.


NEW!!! Hummingbird Red, It's back! Our classic dry red wine that is the perfect dinner wine!


Semi-Dry Riesling, our crisp semi-dry white with bright citrus tones

Ruby Elixir, our semi-sweet best-selling red is Temporarily Sold Out. But don't panic, we will be bottling more in a few months.

Pordeblanco, our port-style white wine, a unique flavor sensation with delicate citrus flavors.

- Recipe of the Month: Vegetable Beef Soup with a Kick- Another great recipe by Brenda, We featured this in March for the Tour de Tanks event and everyboy just loved it!

Ingredients: 1 bottle Hummingbird Red Wine; a 2 pound Chuck Roast; 8 quarts water; 3 Tblsp beef base; 2 bags frozen broccoli (Normandy blend); 3 bags frozen mixed vegetables; 4 15-oz cans tomato sauce; 1/2 tsp celery seed; 2 bay leaves; 1 Tblsp parsley flakes; salt and pepper to taste.

Instructions: Pour yourself a glass of Hummingbird Red wine and sip it while making the recipe. Roast a 2 pound Chuck Roast at 325 degrees for 60-90 minutes. Let the beef cool for 30 minutes. Trim the fat off the beef and shred the beef into small pieces. Pour the juice from the roast into a 12 quart stock pot. Add the remaining ingredients (except wine) and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Boil for 5 minutes. Turn heat off, stir in 1/2 bottle of Hummingbird Red wine. Let it cool. Enjoy it with Hummingbird Red wine!
